Russell Sherman White passed away on April 30, 2017 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Russell was born on April 7, 1937 in Oswego, Kansas to Harold and Charlotte White. He was the youngest of three children. Russell attended grade school and graduated from high school in Oswego. At the age of 18 he joined the United States Army. He served our country with pride as a Military Police Officer in the Korean War. He was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma when he returned to the States. He received an Honorable discharge in 1962. He continued his service to others even after the service, he served as an undersheriff with Leo Fredrick in Oswego, worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation as an Engineer. He later started his own business of construction/carpentry.

It was while stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma that he met and married JoAnn Mahan, of that union four children were born. The couple later divorced. He later met and married Leona Lovelace and together they raised eight children together, later the couple divorced.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Audrea White of Fletcher, Oklahoma, Sherman White and his wife Cindy of Coffeyville, Kansas, Cindy and husband Doug Dees of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Tracy White and wife Teri of Dallas, Texas, step children, Charlene and her husband Brent of West Virginia, Phil Lovelace and his wife Marsha of Independence, Kansas, Shelia and her husband Todd of Indiana, Keli and her husband Mike, of Nowata, Oklahoma.
Nine grandsons, Dustin Boothe, Daniel Boothe, David Boothe, Tommy Bailey, Michael White-Strimple, Douglas Dees Jr., Darrell Dees, Ricky Dees, Thomas White, Alex White, two granddaughters, Mary Pollett, Jamie Stanislaus, Lacey Boothe, three great grandsons, six great granddaughters with a new great granddaughter coming in September, sister, Donna and her husband Howard Sykes of Columbia Missouri, sister in law, Sharon White of Oswego, Kansas He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Verlyn White. He was loved dearly by his friends and family and is greatly missed by all.

At Russell's request cremation has taken place under the care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Memorial Service celebrating the life of Russell will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 4:00 pm at the First Assembly of God, 1504 W 8th St, Coffeyville, Kansas with Pastor Randy DePriest officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Ft. Riley Big Red One Honor Team. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to University of Kansas Medical Center Infectious Disease Research, 3901 Rainbow Boulevard, Kansas City, KS 66160.
