Danny Carl Carrico, age 81, of Edna, Kansas passed away on April 23, 2019 at St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Danny was born on September 27, 1937 in Bartlesville, OK to Roscoe and Nina (Dallison) Carrico. Danny attended McKennon School on Pumpkin Creek before moving to Edna with his parents where he attended Edna Schools. He was a member of the Leib 4-H. He graduated from Edna High School in 1955, and he continued his education at Coffeyville Community College where he earned his Associates of Arts degree. After graduation, he joined the Kansas Army National Guard where he proudly served 8 years before being honorably discharged.

He was introduced to his wife DeeAnn through a mutual friend and Danny decided he would take DeeAnn McDonald out on a date to the rodeo, the rest is history as they say and the couple was united in marriage on June 30, 1967. They were blessed with a son, David.

Danny began his career as a woodworker at a very young age building his sister a kitchen set. He was a master craftsman until his passing. He has built countless homes, cabinets, and family heirlooms in the Coffeyville, Edna, Dewey, Bartlesville, and surrounding areas. Danny had made his home on his grandparent’s farm where he farmed, raised cattle and horses, and raised his family.

Danny attended Don McLaughlin’s roping school in the early sixties. He earned his Gold Card in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) competing in calf roping. Danny was a hard worker, giving friend, and loyal community member. Above all, he was a loving husband, dad, and papa. Anytime a neighbor needed a hand, you could find Danny in line to help them, and when there was a raffle you could find one of his rocking horses or banks donated to the cause. If he couldn’t be found in his shop with grandson Denton, you could probably find him at the Woodshed where he was a card-carrying member of the Woodshed Coffee Club.

Danny will be truly missed by his wife of 51 years, DeeAnn, his son, David, and daughter-in-love, Deena, grandson, Denton, sister, Ann Seger and her husband Dan, sister-in-law Pamela Carrico, sister-in-law, JoAnn Jones and Carl, nephew Jake Seger and wife Amanda, nieces Angela Riley her husband Gregg, Kristen Howarth her husband Brian, Mackenzie Haley her husband Chris, Jody Fankhauser and husband John, Julie Reilly and husband Steve, Janie Natividad, Joni Jones, all of the great nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Nina, brother, Jack, nephew, Colby Seger, and great-niece, Ava Riley.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, burial will immediately follow in North Edna Cemetery. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made to any of these local organizations which Danny supported: Edna Public Library, Edna Volunteer Fire Department, or the Edna PTO Playground Fund and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
