Beverly Arlene Brakhage age 83 of Coffeyville, passed away on August 1, 2018 at Windsor Place.

Known as Arlene to most was born on August 28, 1934 in Coffeyville to Earl and Lydia (Beam) Lewis. The family lived on a farm outside of Coffeyville; that is where hard work was instilled that would stay a constant in Arlene’s life. She would help with milking and driving the tractor out in the field from a very young age. As a family they always enjoyed gathering to sing and play, Arlene played the mandolin. She attended Coffeyville schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School where she was a member of the Robed Choir, drum and bugle corps and the academic honor society. Arlene worked in various roles for different companies in the bookkeeping, administrative, and accounting. She retired from the Morrow Foundry as an accountant. She was united in marriage to Everett Brakhage on November 14, 1969 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Arlene was a quiet and reserved lady who always had her house in order, everything had its place. She enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidery, and loved taking the boat out with Everett to go crappie fishing. Arlene cherished her grandchildren and always made sure to get everyone together for holidays.

Arlene’s memories will live on with her children, Danny Brakhage his wife Paula, Debbie Garner her husband Jay, Robin Garrison her husband Ron, daughter-in-laws Susan Brakhage and Carla Brakhage, brother, Kenneth “Buck” Lewis, sister, Shirley Brown her husband Don, Niece, Debby Brown, nephew Rick Brown, grandchildren, Aaron Garner, Benjamin Garner, Shane Brakhage, Craig Brakhage, Joshua Brakhage, Seth Garrison, Jacob Garrison, Levi Garrison, John Garrison, Caleb Garrison, Sherri Baxter, Terri Pineda, Shawna Givens, Cami Brakhage, and Alicia Dean, and 18 great-grandchildren.

She now rests with her parents, her husband Everett, sons, Ron Brakhage and David Brakhage and grandson Philip Garrison.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:00am. Arlene and I were cousins. Lydia Beam Lewis was the older sister of my mother, Bea, the youngest of the Beam children. As a child, I spent a lot of time at Aunt "Lydie" and Uncle Earl's house, when I came to Dearing to visit my grandma, Bessie. My mother is now 96 and living at Presbyterian Manor in Wichita. We send our condolences and love to all our relatives. Carol Spurgeon
