Ann Diel

Ann L. Diel, 73, formerly of Coffeyville, KS, died at 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Martin Health Center, Bloomington, IL.

She was born July 3, 1942 in Waukegan, IL, daughter of Harold K. and Mary Lou Walters Appley. She married James C. Diel on June 2, 1962 in Gallatin, MO, he preceded her in death on August 29, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Schuyler Appley.

Surviving are one daughter, Sarah (Steve Hunt) Diel-Hunt of Bloomington; two sons, John Diel of Ponca City, OK and David Jeffrey Diel of Tonkawa, OK. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one sister, Marion "Liz" Courtis of Tucson, AZ.

Ann was a voracious reader and enjoyed spending her time working as a library assistant and volunteering at libraries. She privileged her family and her golden retrievers.

Private graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, KS, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Cremation rites have been accorded by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
