OBITUARY FOR ARNOLD OWEN CLARENSON Arnold Owen Clarenson, age 87, died Friday, December 23, at Medicalodges Coffeyville where he had resided since January, 2000. Arnold was born on April 6, 1918, in Oregon, Wisconsin, to Alfred and Minnie Nelson Clarenson. He was the oldest of 8 children born to the couple. At the age of 18, Arnold left home to go to work. He spent many years as a truck driver, served a tour of duty in the Army Air Forces from 1942 to 1946, obtaining the rank of Quarter Master Sergeant and receiving the American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal. Arnold then learned the plumbing trade and owned and operated Clarenson Plumbing in Independence, Kansas. Arnold retired in 1985. Arnold and his wife then moved to the Dearing, Kansas, area. While serving in the military, Arnold met Margie Weber of Independence, Kansas. The couple was married in 1943 and had one daughter. Arnolds wife preceded him in death in 1994. Arnold was a member of the American Legion Post 20 and St. Paul39;s Lutheran Church, both of Coffeyville, Kansas. Arnold is survived by his daughter, Linda Morris, and grandson, Nelson Morris, both of Coffeyville, Kansas; other grandchildren; two sisters, and one brother. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, and two brothers. The casket will be closed; however, friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf Bruns Chapel to sign the guest book. Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf Bruns Chapel with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Coffeyville, Kansas, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and can be left at the funeral home.
