Aserlee Colbert age 90 of Coffeyville passed away at her home with her daughter by her side on October 21, 2017.
Aserlee was born on July 14, 1927 in Van Buren, Arkansas to Kye Williams Sr. and Maggie Harris. The family moved to Coffeyville when Aserlee was two years old. She attended schools in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley High School. After high school, Aserlee was united in marriage to Leonard Colbert on March 13, 1945. To this union the couple was blessed with two daughters. Aserlee made it her life's work to care for the home and children. She loved spending time in the kitchen cooking extravagant meals for her family. Some of her prized dishes were chocolate cake, collard greens, and some of the best hot tamales around. When it came to the holidays she would lay out a spread that was out of this world. She will be remembered most by her beautiful and contagious smile. She always enjoyed talking and joking with friends and family.
Her memoires will live on through her daughter Rita (Colbert) Kenaday and her husband Tom, grandson Loren Kamu, great-granddaughter Alexis Tate, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Aserlee now rests with her parents, her husband of 71 years Leonard, daughter Evelyn Colbert, brothers Kye Jr., Walter Preston, and Otis Merle Williams, sisters Booby Jean Williams, Evelyn Mae Harding, and Marjorie Marie Williams.
A service to celebrate the life of Aserlee will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
