Belva Colleen Perkins’ beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2025.
Colleen was born on August 14th, 1937, in Independence, Kansas; attended Wayside schools; graduating from Field Kindley High School, in May of 1955; and later married Charles W Perkins on November 11th, 1955.
Colleen and Charles resided in the Montgomery County area and raised three children: Debra Bailey of Dallas, Chris Perkins of Coffeyville, and Rhonda Grizzaffi of Dallas. In total, Colleen had 10 grandchildren -- Jackie Welchman, Colby Frederick, Jeremy Perkins, Amanda Stevens, Tucker Bailey, April Bailey, Phillip Grizzaffi, Cody Moses, Kehly Moses, and Tommy Moses -- and sixteen great grandchildren.
Colleen’s love for children and her desire to help those in need led her and Charles to serve as Montgomery County foster parents. They also supported the Coffeyville College International Exchange Program, welcoming students into their home while they studied abroad. She owned "Noah’s Ark," a religious bookstore in Coffeyville, and later earned her Real Estate License, achieving a million-dollar sale. After retiring from Real Estate, she focused her attention on writing, and joined the Coffeyville Writers Club, and just recently published her first book, Invisible Life: Angel’s at Work.
Colleen maintained a deep commitment and love for Jesus, often emphasizing, “Jesus is our standard of living; without him, we have nothing.” Her favorite Bible verse was 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Upon learning of her passing several have stated: “We may never truly know the impact her prayers had on all our lives.”
She was an active member of the Montgomery County Republican Women’s Association, and the Midnight Writers Club Association.
Above all Colleen loved her family unconditionally.
The family will gather to honor and remember their beloved Colleen on Thursday, December 18th, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, located at 2405 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville.
A Celebration Service will take place on Friday, December 19th, at 2:00 PM, followed by a procession to Robins Cemetery for burial, all conducted at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Pastor Randy DePriest from Coffeyville First Assembly of God will officiate the service. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Colleen’s memory to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, with contributions being accepted at the chapel.
