Betty Jean Randels, 88, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Betty was born on January 31, 1925 in Florence, Kansas to Thomas and Lottie Wyke Ridgeway. She grew up around El Dorado, Kansas where she received her high school education. She went on to complete several college courses at a Nazarene College in Hutchinson, Kansas.

On July 14, 1949 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, James L. Randels in El Dorado, Kansas. The couple made their home in Independence, Kansas. After James passed away in 1998 Betty moved to Coffeyville to be close to her church family and friends. Betty worked as an Office Manager for many years at Mercy Hospital in Independence. She was also the Secretary for the First Church of the Nazarene in Independence and the Treasurer for the First Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville.

Betty enjoyed spending her time visiting friends that were in the nursing home or hospitals. She spent many days assisting with the the Age to Age Kindergarten class at Windsor Place with her dear friend Edna Mae Chittum. She loved being around people, helping others and loved to laugh. She always had a listening ear if anyone needed. Most of all she lived her life for the Lord. She filled her days with church activities surrounded by her church family.

Surviving to honor her memory is her son, Darrel Randels of Belton, Missouri daughterinlaw, Kathy Randels of Wichita, Kansas brother, Glen Ridgeway and wife, Jean of Moline, Kansas grandchildren, Nancy Kirk and husband, Wes of Wichita, Kansas, Josh Randels and wife, Anna of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kaci Gilchrist and husband, Ryan, Kayli Randels all of Independence, Kansas great grandchildren, Jena Kirk, Dakota Randels, Dax Randels, Addison Rosenhoover, Raegan Rosenhoover and Josiah
Gilchrist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lottie loving husband, James son, Ed L. Randels who passed away in 2007 brothers, Bob and Owen Ridgeway and a sister, Dorothy Loflin.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Church of Nazarene in Coffeyville, Kansas. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Friends may call on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the First Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville, Kansas these may be left with the funeral home.
