Betty Jean Sullivan went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 4, 2016 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Betty was born to Carl H. Peace and Vera Mae (Timmons) Peace on July 14, 1925 in Mountain View, Missouri. At an early age the family moved to Potosi, Missouri where Betty attended grade school and graduated from Potosi High School in May 1943. In June of that year, Betty, along with her family moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. Betty worked at S.H. Kress Company and Hills Music. She worked at city hall in the Water and Light Department for several years until she retired.

She married Bill Hughey in 1946. They later divorced. Together they had two children, Michael (Mike) and Patricia (Patti). She married John R. Sullivan on July 6, 1962.

Betty loved spending time with her family. She was active in Relay for Life as a breast cancer survivor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, cross-stitching and had a love for frogs.

She is survived by her husband John (Coffeyville), daughter Patti Miesner and husband Tom (Coffeyville), son Mike Hughey and wife Kim (Coffeyville), sister Shirley Popkens and husband Lou (Arlington, TX), 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and other extended family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her father Carl H. Peace, her mother Vera Mae Peace and sister, Helen Bateman.

Services will be held at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 1pm, with Pastor Nicole Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow in Coffeyville's Restlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm at the funeral home on Sunday February 7, 2016.

Memorials may be made payable to the First United Methodist Church or to the Coffeyville Relay for Life in her name; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Avenue, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
