Beverly Jolyn Allen Frazee passed away on June 10, 2025 at Medicalodges on Midland in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Beverly Jolyn Frazee was born December 4, 1930, to Joe and Zelma Allen in Independence, Kansas. In 1933 the family moved to Coffeyville, where Jolyn grew up, forging life-long friendships. One of her favorite memories was of proudly marching in the Field Kindley Drum and Bugle Corps. She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1948 and attended Gulf Park College in Biloxi, Mississippi, the following year. During a Christmas break dance at the Shrine Barn in Coffeyville, she met the love of her life, Jack Frazee. They married in July 1950 and shortly afterward started the farm where they raised their family.
Jolyn’s life was deeply rooted in her faith, family, and community. She joined the First Presbyterian Church as a teenager and gave countless hours of service there—teaching kindergartners in Sunday school, volunteering in the church thrift shop, serving with Presbyterian Women (including as moderator), and later as a deacon and elder. She was always baking cakes and glue-gunning ornaments onto miniature Christmas trees for church raffles.
Her love for her community extended well beyond the church walls: she was a proud 50-year member of P.E.O. Chapter DR, a dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteer alongside Jack, a Red Cross volunteer, and an active member of Friends of the Mansion.
Throughout her life, Jolyn carried with her a quiet strength, a love of reading, and an encyclopedic knowledge of all the people in town. She was also the family historian and left behind notes with stories about ancestors throughout her home.
Jolyn also had a riotous sense of humor. One of her grandchildren‘s favorite stories is about the time that she laughed so hard in church that she had to leave the sanctuary. Family was always at the center of her heart, and her kitchen table was at the center of many family celebrations.
Jolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Zelma Krebs Allen; her husband, Jack; and her brother, Tom. She is survived by her sons, John and his wife Gloria of East Hampton, New York, and Bill of Nowata; her grandson Stephen Frazee and his wife Kimberly, and their children Ella Jolyn and Ethan; and her granddaughter Laura Frazee Songeng and her husband Bobby Songsteng and their son Miles.
