Bill Sprague

William Bill L. Sprague, 89, longtime Coffeyville area resident and local business owner, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at CRMC.

Bill was born on December 3, 1924 east of Parsons, Kansas to William L. Sprague, Sr. and Marie Gregory Sprague. He went to school in Oklahoma but then spent most of his life in the Coffeyville area. In 1945 he was united in marriage to Delta Steger, of that union two daughters were born. The couple later divorced.

On June 6, 1974 he was married to Sue Cox in Coffeyville, Kansas. The couple made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. He worked construction doing carpentry for many years. After retirement in 1987 he opened up his own store, S S Furniture that has served the community for twenty six years. Many mornings you could find him with the local group of men who gathered to visit over morning coffee. Bill loved sports, most of all he loved watching his kids and grandkids at their sporting events. He also enjoyed cars and collecting model cars.

Surviving to honor his memory are his loving wife, Sue of the home daughters, Lynda Mae Stites and husband, Chad of Florida, Patricia Ann Worthan and husband, Terry of Skiatook, Oklahoma twin sons, Kent and Kevin Sprague both of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma step daughters, Shelly Rogers of Severy, Kansas, Tania Houser and husband, George of Wann, Oklahoma Angela Johnson of Sedan, Kansas sister, Carol Duvall of Coffeyville, Kansas and was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents six brothers and three sisters.

Cremation has taken place and a Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at FordWulfBruns Chapel from 8am until 7pm. Family will greet friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5pm7pm. A Private Family Service will take place at a later time.

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Rd, Suite 200, Bethesda, Maryland 20814 or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. 2600 Network Blvd, Suite 300, Frisco, Texas 75034 these may also be left with the funeral home.
