Billie Dean Rexwinkle passed away in his home in Afton, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 with his family near his side on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Born on August 31, 1930, in rural Craig County, Oklahoma, Billie was the third youngest of thirteen children of Charles Henry and Ida Belle (Acridge) Rexwinkle. Of his siblings, only his sister Ann survives him.
Billie, alongside his siblings, walked to the one-room school just down the road from their home. He was known, from time to time, to check his trotline on the way to school. As a young teen, Billie began attending Edna High School, where he completed his education before enrolling in college courses as an adult.
In 1961, Billie married Jane, and of that union seven children were born. The couple later divorced, but the love for their children remained. In 1979, he married Candy Bixler; of that union, two children were born, and they have shared forty-six years together.
Billie worked various jobs over his career and was truly a jack of all trades! He was an electrician for several years before beginning employment with Lockheed Aircraft as a Facility Engineer, where he retired. Retirement was just not something Billie could settle into, and he found himself working at Jensen’s until its closure. He continued to work here and there, helping where he could. Was it work or was it a hobby? It was hard to define for Billie, as he enjoyed working.
When Billie officially “retired” from receiving a paycheck, he continued to work or tinker around the place, always finding something to fix or work on. He enjoyed raising cattle, going fishing occasionally, or helping the neighbor down the road. He would literally give the shirt off his back for anyone who needed it; that is just who he was. He was a good husband, dad, grandpa, friend, and neighbor.
Billie was a simple man who loved his family with all of his heart. He leaves behind his wife Candy of the home; their nine children: John Rexwinkle, Jimmie Rexwinkle (Kim), Danny Rexwinkle (Jackie), Donnie Rexwinkle (Darlene), Debbie Taylor (Hardy), Delbert Rexwinkle, Delores Frank, Jeremy Rexwinkle (April), and Sarah Rexwinkle; his only surviving sister Ann; twenty grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave, Coffeyville, Kansas, with his son, Pastor Danny Rexwinkle, officiating. Billie will be laid to rest near his parents at Elm Grove Cemetery, also known as North Edna Cemetery, immediately following services.
