Charles Wayne Bess, 65, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at CRMC. Cremation has taken place under the direction of FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. The family will be holding a Memorial Service at the River of Life Tabernacle River of Life Tabernacle 3597 CR 1675, Coffeyville, Kansas 3 Miles West of Coffeyville just off HWY 166 on Tuesday July 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm Pastor Joe Brooks will be officiating. Charles was born on October 6, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Richard and Rosie Bales Bess. He grew up in Taft, California where he graduated from Taft Union High School in 1965. He then attended Taft Junior College. In 1967 he moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas where he resided until moving to Coffeyville in 2005. When he moved to Coffeyville he gained employment with Jensen International where he worked as a pattern maker. He recently retired less than a month ago due to failing health.

On July 23, 2001 he was united in marriage to Joyce A. Phillips in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She survives of the home. He enjoyed fishing and baseball. Most of all he loved attending church and being amongst his church family. He was a member of the River of Life Tabernacle since coming to Coffeyville.

In addition to his wife Joyce, he is also survived by his stepdaughters, Kari Phillips and Kelli Gatewood both of Wichita, Kansas sisters, Peggy Emmert and Sheree Black both of Arkansas five grandchildren four nieces and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rosie stepdaughter, Rachel Gray brother, Bobby Bess and by a sister, Sandra Clation.
