Chris Eugene McVey, age 61, passed away on December 12, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, KS.

Chris was born on July 25, 1957 in Iola, Kansas to Vernon "Mac" and Dorothy (Mann) McVey. He attended and graduated from Marmaton Valley School in Moran, KS.

On July 1, 1979, he married the love of his life Genette Cochran. They made their home in Coffeyville, KS where he was employed at Kanoma Coop/Bartlett Coop for the last 35 years. Chris never met a stranger and was known for his kind smile and always being there to offer a hand. He enjoyed his family, friends, golfing, work, mowing, a good meal, being the life of the party, but most of all the time he spent with his grandsons who were his pride and joy and thought the world of him.

He is survived by his wife, Genette of the home; daughters, Shalawnda Dumm and husband Travis of Coffeyville, KS, Scottie Harper and husband Tyler of Palm Harbor, FL; grandsons Asher and Grayson Dumm; parents Mac and Dottie McVey of Tyro, KS; brother Ron McVey and wife Teresa of Tyro, KS; in-laws Annette and Chris Cole of Moran, KS and Lori and Gary Amble of Shawnee Mission, KS; and ten nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life Services are set for Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 9 am at Hillcrest Golf Course Shelter under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel immediately following will be the Chris McVey Memorial Golf Tournament per his request. The family will receive friends following the tournament at the VFW Post 1022, 1714 W 8th St, Coffeyville, KS 67337 at 6 pm with live entertainment starting at 9 pm. Chris requested that contributions be made to American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be left in the care of the chapel.
