Darrell Beeson

Darrell Victor (D.V) Beeson passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10th at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. He was 91. Darrell was one of three children born to Roy and Bessie Beeson. Darrell was born in the family home on the Beeson Dairy, where after he married, lived the rest of his life and raised his family in the house he was born in. Darrell attended school at Cedar Bluff and Field Kindley High School. After school he enlisted in the Navy and served during WWII - returning after the war to marry Kathryn Hayden, start a family and manage the family farm and dairy. He later started and ran Beeson Backhoe Service.

Darrell was an avid reader well into his retirement and was known to all the librarians in town - coming in weekly to bring home a stack of books. He also had a deep love of music and was the first to introduce his children to the likes of Joan Baez and Muddy Waters. He loved camping and fishing. His favorite fishing hole was the Taylor River in Colorado where, at his request, some of his ashes will be scattered.

Left to honor his memory are his son Jim Beeson; his wife Amy Bigbee of Albuquerque and son Joey Smallwood (wife Estelle), daughter Claire Smallwood. Daughter Beth Beeson-Wilkins: her husband FD Wilkins of Boulder, CO, Beth's son Blake Beeson Shipley and wife Terrie and son Ty of Tulsa. Daughter Janis Beeson: her husband Len Norwitz and daughter Lily Meng Beeson-Norwitz of Portland, OR, his niece Nancy Fuller and her husband Rod of Denver, and his best friend later in life, Dorothy Littleton and her son Lucus, Kathy Cook, Billy and Jackie Gillman, longtime friends and neighbors.

Darrell had many long standing friendships with neighbors and area residents throughout his life, most of whom have passed on.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Kathryn (Hayden) Beeson and his youngest son William "Bill" Darrell Beeson, age 60 of Tulsa, OK, who recently passed away on September 8, 2016 in Tulsa, his older brother Don of Irvine, CA and Medford, OR and his sister Betty Scharff of Vancouver, WA.

Darrell's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Windsor Place, Oxford Unit, for their care they gave to him these past 2 years, especially Darcy, Angie, Jessica, Katrina, Melissa and all the other staff who loved and cared for him. The family is so grateful to the staff at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, for their special care of our loved one, they are all angels.
