Dixie Dee Cummings

Dixie Dee (Watson) Cummings was born November 13, 1940, in Altamont, Kansas, the youngest child of Clarence and Lorene (DeBolt) Watson. In 1945, the family moved to Parsons, where she attended school and graduated from Parsons High School in 1958. Dixie Continued her education at Parsons Junior College, graduating in 1960.

Setting out into the world, Dixie moved to Topeka, where she lived with her aunt, Alma DeBolt. While there, she met an airman from Pennsylvania stationed at the air force base, Vince Cummings. The two married and settled in Coffeyville, where they owned and operated for many years the former Conoco service station on west fourth street.

Aside from keeping the books for the station, Dixie also work for Buckner Furniture Store, Senior Services Meals on Wheels, and Southeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging. Her position with the agency moved her to Chanute for several years. Upon retirement, Dixie returned to Coffeyville to be closer to family. Eventually, she moved into Windsor Place Assisted Living on 8th followed by Medicalodges Nursing Facility where she resided until her passing on January 29, 2026

Dixie was raised in the Methodist faith and was later baptized and joined the Baptist church. She enjoyed the many friendships she made through Bible studies and working organizations such as Business Professional Women.

Survivors include: her daughter Cynthia (Mike) Cranor of Copan, OK, and son Todd (Lisa) Cummings of Nowata, OK; grandsons, Zachary (Brittany) Cranor) of Bixby, OK, Jared Cranor of Oklahoma City, OK, and Christian Cummings of Nowata, OK; great-grandsons Huxley, Sutner, and Declan Cranor of Bixby, OK; sister-in-law Mary Etta Watson; and nephews Don and Doug Watson, originally of Parsons, KS. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers Donald and Dwain Watson, sister Dolores Kyle, brother-in-law Bob Kyle, and her ex-husband.

Dixie will be buried in Parsons at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, alongside her parents and other family members following her service on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville, KS.
