Dixie Jones

Dixie Kay Jones, age 61 of Lenapah, OK passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK.

Dixie was born on August 2, 1960, in Claremore, OK to Jesse Jones Sr. and Sharon Kay Jones.  She was one of eight children growing up in the Coffeyville area.  Dixie completed her education at Coffeyville Community College. She worked many different jobs, but she dedicated her working career to childcare.

Dixie’s family often referred to her as “The Old Lady Who Lived in the Shoe” because she always cared for the children around her.  She was a loving, and caring mother, grandma, friend, and sister.  Dixie always welcomed anyone who entered her door, often allowing them to lay their head down in a safe place and have a meal at her table.  She never asked questions...she only provided love. Dixie's laugh will always be remembered.

Dixie was a Native American of the of the Deer Clain of the Euchee (Yuchi) Tribe, who settled in the Polecat Ceremonial Grounds.  She was very proud of her Native American Culture and History; she was a great educator to her children and grandchildren of their native history and culture.  When her children were young they often attended Pow Wows and Stomp Dances of which she continued to attend.  Dixie also enjoyed listening to country music, but one thing she couldn’t do was sing.

Dixie is loved and cherished by her children, Johonna Jones, Joshua Bruce, Felicia Adame, Christopher Bruce-Jones & wife Jenna Bemore, Letticia Adame, Jon Kay Merrill & husband Raymond, Nancy Adame, Jesse Bruce; brothers, Jesse Jones Jr., Jason David Jones, Jason Alexander Jones, Jeremiah Jones, Jimmy Jones; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Sr. & Sharon Kay Jones, daughter, Monicia “Tillie” Adame, sister, Rose Bernice Jones, brother, Roy Dwayne Jones, and nephew Jonathan Jones.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS.  Native American Burial Ceremony will follow at Fairview Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her daughter.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, from 4 to 6 pm also at the chapel.  To leave an online message of condolence or share a memory visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
