Doris A. Whitmore, 89, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.

Doris was born on September 8, 1924 in Coffeyville, Kansas to William P. and Lucile Graves Allin. She grew up in Coffeyville where she received her education from Field Kindley Memorial High School.
On September 27, 1942 she was united in marriage to John D. Whitmore in Coffeyville. The couple made their home in Coffeyville. John preceded her in death on September 24, 1989.

Doris worked as a seamstress and manager for Edwards Dress Shop in Coffeyville for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville and active in WFCS in the church, a member of the PTA, and was active in the Girl Scouts, Campfire Girls and Coffeyville Girls Council. She enjoyed doing crafts of all kinds and gardening. Doris also volunteered as an advocate for CASA in Montgomery County. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving to honor her memory is her son, John A. Whitmore and wife, Dorothy of Coffeyville, Kansas daughter, Suzanne Munn of Pocatello, Idaho four grandchildren ten greatgrandchildren and two sisters, JoAnn Collier and Jenny McAfee.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John parents, William and Lucile brothers, Tom, Bill and Clifford Allin sisters, Betty Breed and June Marr.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Pastor Nicole Schwartz of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville will officiate. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville.

Friends may call on Monday, September 23, 2013 at FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice these may be left with the funeral home.
