Elizabeth Stewart

Elizabeth Irene Stewart (Sissy) 75, of Fredonia, formerly of Coffeyville, passed away on September 13, 2016 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Elizabeth was born in Coffeyville on March 11, 1941 to Carl Arthur and Jean I. M. (Battaglear) Reynolds Kerrens. She was blessed to have the gift of three father-figures in her life, Carl Reynolds, Jim Hartley, and Ross Kerrens whom she fondly knew as "Daddy". She was raised in Coffeyville where she attended and graduated from Field Kindley High School. During high school Elizabeth worked at the Bus Station in the terminal building in downtown Coffeyville and continued working there after graduation. She married Carl G. Pendleton in 1964 and they were blessed with two daughters; the couple later divorced. Years later, in 1984, Elizabeth was reunited with the love of her life, Don Stewart, whom she first met while working at the Bus Station. It was true love for both of them, and they were married on January 28, 1985. She worked for Coffeyville Regional Medical Center as a dietary supervisor, devoting over 22 years of service before her retirement. In her free time Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitch, embroidery, collecting recipes, traveling, and working on family genealogy. Over the years she also belonged to the local Marine Corps League Auxiliary, the Salvation Army Cadets, and the Black Powder Club of Oswego. Most of all she loved her family, her soap operas, and Blackie, her dog. Elizabeth was both strong and independent, but will be remembered most as a loving and supportive wife, Granny, and Mom, who taught her daughters to "always do your best". According to those who loved her, the world will never be the same.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Donald W. Stewart; daughters, Carla Jean VanCleave (J.R.) of Wichita, and Brenda Elaine Jaimez (David) of Coffeyville; grandchildren, Kelly Jo, Toby Jay, and Taylor Raye VanCleave; half-brother, Norman Reynolds; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-son, Jon Stewart; and half-brother, Calvin Reynolds.

Memorial services will be held in Coffeyville on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 10:00am. Inurnment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
