Elmo Cole

Elmo "Jack" Cole, 86, of Edna, Kansas passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015 at his home in Edna, Kansas.

Elmo was born on November 7, 1928 in Coffeyville, Kansas to John and Beulah (Hittle) Cole. He grew up in Edna, Kansas where he attended local schools. He went to work for Co-Op Refinery in 1948 and retired as a Pipefitter after 43 years of service in 1991.

On March 6, 1949 he married the love of his life, Norma Jean Hancock in Coffeyville. They made their home in Edna, Kansas. He helped Norma take care of the farm and upon his retirement she turned over the day to day operations of the farm to him. Jack enjoyed fishing and was a member of the North American Fishing Club. He also liked to read and talk politics. Most of all he loved the time he spent cheering on the grandchildren at their sporting events and the time he spent with his family and friends.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters, Pamela Clevenger and husband, Carl "Bill" of Edna, Kansas, Janice Cole of Coffeyville, Kansas; son, Michael Cole and wife, Bonita of Independence, Missouri; grandchildren, Brenda McNickle and husband, Gary, Carla Bebb and husband, John, Brent Clevenger and wife, Michelle, Kelly Ernst and husband, Matt, Chris Cole; great grandchildren, Rachel Bebb, Dillon McNickle, Kendal Bebb, Macy Clevenger, Olivia Ernst and Vance Ernst; sisters, Donna Patterson and husband, Frank of Palestine, Texas and Reta Crum of Holts Summit, Missouri,. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beulah; and loving wife, Norma.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Edna, Kansas. Burial will follow at the North Edna Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas from 4pm until 8pm. The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made payable to the First Baptist Church of Edna or the Edna Public Library; these may be left with the funeral home.
