Eugene Cochran

Eugene Gene Waylan Cochran, 92, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Gene was born on October 12, 1921 in Dearing, Kansas to Kelse and Estella DeShields Cochran. He grew up in Dearing where he attended grade school. He graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School in Coffeyville, Kansas. From 1942 until 1945 he proudly served his country in the United States Army.

On June 20, 1942 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Edith G. Carter in Independence, Kansas. The couple made their home in Coffeyville. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2004. Gene worked for Nutrena Mills until his retirement. During his retirement he enjoyed being a Bee Keeper. He also enjoyed fishing, working around the yard and gardening most of all he enjoyed bowling. He was a member of the Southview Church of God in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma has served on the Policemans Auxiliary and was a member of the Coffeyville American Legion Post 20.

Surviving to honor his memory are his daughters, Patricia Pippin of Coffeyville, Kansas, Linda Pippin and husband, Rick of Coffeyville, Kansas grandchildren, Kristina Pippin, Laresa Lukens and husband, Roy, Deborah Dashney and husband, Chris, Gary Pippin, Rickie Pippin and wife, Kristin eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Edith, he was also preceded in death by his parents three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Southview Church of God in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma under the direction of FordWulfBruns Chapel of Coffeyville. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the funeral home from Noon until 8:00 p.m. The family will greet friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made payable to the Southview Church of God these may be left with the funeral home.
