Floyd Eugene Horton, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at the age of 81. Gene was born to James and Willie Maureen Horton in Bowman, Arkansas, on July 14, 1944. He dedicated his life to hard work and family, leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment.
Gene enjoyed a successful career as superintendent in the flour mill industry, where he was known for his intelligence, dedication, and strong work ethic. Bartlett Milling in Coffeyville is where he retired and built lasting friendships with his coworkers. His passions extended beyond his professional life; he found immense joy in cattle ranching and bailing hay, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and the land that he cherished. On November 16, 1963, he married the love of his life, Candy, and together they shared 62 remarkable years of love and companionship, remaining inseparable throughout their journey.
Gene dedicated himself to nurturing their family, raising two daughters, Lisa and Kristie. He took immense joy in being a grandfather to Tiffany, Alex, Morgan, Ashlynn, and eight great grandchildren who will forever treasure the fond memories and invaluable wisdom he imparted throughout their lives.
Gene is survived by lovely wife Candy, daughter Lisa Horton Schuetz and husband Tim, grandchildren, Tiffany Nichols, Alex Nichols, Morgan Folk and husband Tanner, Ashlynn Brook, eight great grandchildren, his sisters, Glenna Bruno, Veta Bruno and a host of extended family members and friends.
