Genevieve Meyer

GENEVIEVE M. MEYER Age 72, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Friday, July 16, 2004, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born February 7, 1932 in Wathena, Kansas, the daughter of the late Mabel Wells, of Coffeyville. She attended the Wathena Public School System. Genevieve married Jack Meyer on October 20, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in death in July of 1978. Genevieve was a homemaker also helping her husband Jack with Bray Line Trucking Company. Later she owned and operated Gennys Caf and Meyers Liquor Store, having retired in 1999. In February 1999, she married Ottis Clayton of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He passed away in October 2001. Genevieve enjoyed playing bridge and earned her Life Masters. She also enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville; Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 112 and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by: One daughter, Jackie Mowder and husband John, of Lawrence, Kansas One son, Don Meyer and wife Patty, of Dumas, Texas Three grandsons, Mike Hudson, Colby Meyer, Chris Mowder Two granddaughters, Brittnee Meyer, Karen Mowder A funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Burial will take place in the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, 1 until 8 p.m. at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association and may be left at the funeral home.
