Helen was born to Carril and Marion (Hadley) Huddleston on March 12, 1946, in Nowata, Oklahoma. She grew up in Wann, Oklahoma, graduating from Wann High School in 1964. Helen enjoyed playing point guard for the basketball team, she seemed to be very good at it. She attended Success Secretarial School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was employed by Funk Manufacturing for 5 years prior to her 19 plus years of employment at Windsor Place where she also retired from. She enjoyed her family and especially all her grandbabies. She was a very loving lady who never turned away any of her girls’ friends from their home and always offered to let them stay for dinner.
Helen met the love of her life Jerry, while cruising 8th street back in the day. Jerry saw a beautiful girl who he didn’t recognize and waved. He turned around and followed her to Shorty’s drive in and struck up a conversation that led to asking her on a date. Jerry was being drafted into the Army and was leaving in 2-weeks, so it was a short courtship, and the couple were married on June 30, 1966, at First Christian Church in Coffeyville at 6pm. They lived in Fort Bliss for 2 years where they had their first child and they later returned home to Coffeyville where they have made their home near Angola and welcomed two more daughters. Jerry and Helen were just short a few weeks of celebrating 57 years of marriage.
Helen is survived by her husband, Carl “Jerry” of the home, three daughters, Tonya Farley of Ellinwood, Kansas, Christina and her husband Robert Crites of Great Bend, Kansas, Karla Crawford of Lyons, Kansas, one brother-in-law Bennie Benson, seven grandchildren, Amanda Moore (Stacy) of Great Bend, Kansas, Mikayla Miranowski(Josh) of Wichita, Kansas, Nathan Monday (Ashton) of Chase, Kansas, Chesney Crawford, Lyons, Kansas, Jeri Bierbrodt of Ellinwood, Kansas and Joey Crawford of Lyons Kansas, six great grandchildren and one on the way, six nieces and nephews.
