Helen "Hope" Underwood, age 83, of rural Coffeyville, Kansas died Monday, March 9, 2015 at Stormont-Vail Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas.

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Hope Underwood, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Coffeyville Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Elder Roger Larson officiating. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.

Visitation hours will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The family has suggested memorials be mailed to Sunnydale Adventist Academy, 6818 Audrain Road 9139, Centralia, Missouri 65240 or can be left with Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.

Helen "Hope" Underwood was born June 18, 1931 to Clem V. & Edith (Hines) Haskins in Sikeston, MO. She, attended schools in Sikeston, Missouri and Coffeyville, and high school at Sunnydale Academy in Centralia, Missouri.

On February 3, 1951 Hope married Albert Andrew Underwood in Coffeyville, Kansas. The couple made their home in Coffeyville, of that union two daughters were born, Cheryl Denise Jorgenson and Kathryn Elaine Underwood. In addition, she was the mother to several foster children from the area. Hope spent over 40 years working for Carl Garrison and Central Insurance Agency. In addition, she raised cattle and gardened on their small acreage near Dearing. She was devoted to her grandchildren and friends. She was a member of the Coffeyville Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Survivors include daughter Kathy E. Underwood of Woodridge, Illinois, daughter Cheryl Denise Jorgenson and husband Gerald of Topeka, Kansas, two grandchildren, Andrew Jorgenson and wife Heidi, Melody Stout and husband Michael, and one sister, Pat Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her parents, a sister, Irene Bolejack and a brother, Kenneth Haskins.
