James Ernest Moon September 16, 1948 - April 6, 2005 James Ernest Moon, age 56, passed away on April 6, 2005 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, The Vyne, Wichita, Kansas. He was born September 16, 1948 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Ernest Lee and Virtha Lois Gilmore Moon. He attended Coffeyville Schools. He was a 1966 graduate of Labette County High School. He was a US Air Force Tec Sgt. Retiree. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. He was also a graduate of Coffeyville Community College. Memberships include the First Baptist Church of Coffeyville and a member of several genealogy societies during which time he handled the cemetery and marriage records for the Montgomery County Society. Survivors include his wife Nina of the home in Coffeyville; his mother Virtha Padgett of Coffeyville; one son, John E. Moon of Wichita, Ks.; two step-sons, Bryan Reese, Florence, Ky.; Sgt. G.H. Reese, Fort Lewis, Wa.; two step-daughters, Casandra Buckner, Manchester, Tn.; Erica Johnson, Coffeyville; two half brothers, Frank Moon, Kearney, Mo.; Harvey Moon, Tyler, Tx.; one step-brother, Dick Padgett, Bartlesville, Ok.; three grandchildren, Bradley Black of Rowlett, Texas; Thomas Moon, Wichita, Ks.; Jonas Reese Buckner, Manchester, Tn. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Moon, step-father, O. V. Padgett. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 8, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford, Wulf, Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. Family will gather at the gravesite at service time. Dr. Wayne Norton of the First Baptist Church will be officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard of Wichita, Kansas.
