Jay W. Ritchie age 90 passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Jay was born in Edna, Kansas to Alva and Margaret Brooks (Howard) Ritchie. He grew up in the Edna and Coffeyville rural areas, graduating from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the U S Navy in 1944 and was honorable discharged in 1946. On December 26, 1959 he married Shirley "Jean" Webb, in Miami, Oklahoma blending their families. He and Jean raised their children in Coffeyville. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2011.

Jay worked for MEC in Neodesha, Kansas as a scheduler until his retirement. Jay was an active member of Coffeyville VFW Post 1022 for many years, he also served as a former VFW Kansas State Commander. Jay was a member of First Baptist Church of Coffeyville, an avid Kansas University Sports fan, thoroughly enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was also a dog lover. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family.

Survivors are his son, David Ritchie and his wife, Nancy of Lake Hills, TX; daughter, Janice Ritchie of Coffeyville, KS; stepson, Joe Webb and his wife, Debbie of Carl Junction, MO; stepdaughters, Debbie Webb of Oklahoma City, OK, Paula Shaw and her husband, Chuck of Euless, TX, Kristi Webb of Thornton, CO and Peggy Ramer of Houston, TX; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Joe Ritchie; step brother, Earl Howard and daughter, Carla Mavers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave, Coffeyville, KS at 11:00 am, committal services will be held at the Veterans Memorial Patio with burial at Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may sign the register at the chapel from 10 am to 5 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Coffeyville VFW Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20 will be providing Veteran Honors.
