Jerry Wilson McDill age 80, passed away November 5, 2018 at Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK.
Jerry was born July 19, 1938 in Alexandria, LA to Melvin McDill and Florence McDill. Later on they moved to Independence, KS where Jerry attended school and graduated from Independence High School in 1956. Soon after Jerry joined the Army in August of 1956 and was honorably discharged in June of 1959. After he came back from the service, Jerry worked with his parents at McDill Cleaners and graduated from Independence Community College. In July of 1978 Jerry began his postal career in the Independence Post Office as a clerk and then became postmaster in Latham, KS in 1982. After many years of service Jerry retired as postmaster in McCune, KS.
In June of 1964 Jerry married Judith Annette (Murphy) McDill in Independence, KS where they had two children, John Wilson McDill and Jennelle (McDill) Speer. Later on in life Jerry met Helen (Love) McDill and married in 1989 in McCune, KS. They shared 28 wonderful years of marriage until Helen passed in 2017. After retirement Jerry loved spending his time traveling, fishing, and gardening. He loved watching his Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball in his free time.
Jerry is survived by his son John Wilson McDill his wife Sarah of Independence and daughter Jennelle Speer her husband Michael of Coffeyville, sister Jean Clark her husband Butch of Independence, 5 grandchildren, and a niece.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Judith McDill and wife Helen McDill.
