Jimmy Allen Miller, born March 15, 1953, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center at the age of 72. Known to many simply as “Waving Jimmy,” he was a kind-hearted soul who would give you the shirt off his back and never met a stranger. Jimmy’s warmth, humor, and genuine love for people left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Jimmy was born in Coffeyville, Kansas to Eddie and Virginia (Zeigler) Miller. Jimmy has spent his lifetime in Coffeyville where he graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School. He started his working career at the Sherwin Williams Paint Manufacturing plant in Coffeyville prior to his twenty plus years of employment with Morrow Foundry prior to becoming a security guard for Gene Tucker with Eagle Security, then the at the Eagles Club north of town and lastly with R&S Security.
Jimmy was a die-hard WWE wrestling fan and took great joy in life’s simple pleasures. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on 11th Street, happily waving at everyone who passed by, spreading smiles and connection throughout the community. He loved his crafts, especially enjoyed making decorative plates covered in stickers, which he proudly shared with others. During Christmas, Jimmy delighted in decorating his home with lights placed haphazardly all over the house — a reflection of his joyful, carefree spirit.
Above all, Jimmy cherished time with his family, especially his many nephews and nieces, whom he loved deeply.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Miller; his mother, Virginia “Jenny” (Zeigler) Miller; his grandmother, Faye Zeigler; his sisters, Sue Miller-Hunt and Nancy Wilson; his brothers, Richard Webb-Miller and John Miller; and his nephews, Chad Miller and Danny Miller.
He is survived by his brother, Bruce Miller, and sister-in-law, Vickie Desin; and his many beloved nieces and nephews: Shawn Miller; Hayley and “Bubba” Abel; Elijah and Grace; Jerzie; Gabe and Dre; Heather, John Johnson, and their children Hannah and Elijah, Seth and Christian; Britney and Sam Abell, and their children Sofie, Lizzie, Stella, and family; Johnny Miller, and his children Cody and Lance; Carol and Roger Wagner, and their children Josh, Jenny, and Blake; Lisa and Jack Cooper, and their children Matt and Sarah; Steve and Rick Soules; Eddie Wilson, and his children Amanda, Kyle, and Chris; Tim and Heather Wilson, and family; Bill Miller, and his children Blake, Danielle, and grandchildren.
Jimmy faced his illness with strength and dignity. His presence, his waves, his crafts, and his love will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched along the way.
Jimmy’s request was for cremation to take place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. The family requests any memorial contributions to be made to the chapel to help defray expenses. In true Jimmy fashion the family requests your presence in gathering at his respective spot on 11th Street (in front of the main campus CCC Parking Lot across from Arby’s) on January 1, 2026, beginning at 4pm to wave to all that pass by. Jimmy’s arrangements being lovingly handled by his nieces and nephews. Jimmy will be remembered always for his big heart, his joyful spirit, and the simple act of waving that meant so much to so many.
Forever remembered. Forever waving.
