Jonina Anthony

Jonina Karol Anthony age 70, passed away July 10, 2017 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She had been a resident at Windsor Place for several months.

She was born March 19, 1947 to Mary Ellen and Kenneth W. Lytle. She graduated from Lenapah High School, attended Coffeyville Community College and graduated from Pittsburg State University with degrees in Oral Communication and Political Science. In later years she returned to Pittsburg State University and obtained her Master's Degree in Higher Education.

Jonina retired in 2009 after working 35 years for the state of Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services in Independence where she was an Income Maintenance Specialist. In 2001 she was chosen to participate in the SRS Kansas Leadership Program. She was one of several workers loaned by Kansas in 2005 to go to Louisiana to assist Hurricane Katrina victims get entitled assistance.

In past years she has served as a part-time Debate Coach with the Independence High School and as an adjunct instructor for Independence Community College, where she taught classes in Speech and Social Work.

Jonina was united in marriage to Ralph Anthony on June 9, 1982. He survives at the home in Caney, other survivors include, her mother; Mary Ellen Todd of Collinsville, OK, son; Kennen Lewayne Simmons his wife Cyndi of Coffeyville, grandchildren; Austin Covel, Alex Campbell, and Gabrielle Simmons. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Lytle and dad John Todd.

Funeral services will be held on Monday July 17, 2017 at 10:00am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel interment will follow at Robbins Cemetery, west of Coffeyville. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Chapel. The family suggests memorials to be made payable to the ASPCA and they may be sent in care of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
