Ladonna Pickett

LaDonna Sue Pickett went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2021.

LaDonna was born to Curtis and Leon Williams on September 24, 1942 in Elk City, Ks one of 12 siblings.  She grew up on the Buffalo Ranch south of Elk City; she graduated from Havana High School.  She married Bill Pickett on December 27, 1963 and the couple was blessed with three children.  LaDonna worked as a cook for Elk Valley U.S.D. 283 for 32 years.  She adopted each child she served and made sure they all had someone in their corner and had a clean face.  She could be found at every ballgame, home or away just to ensure that every child had someone in the stands rooting for them.  It was her mission to make sure the referees called a fair game, she would make them aware of a missed or bad call very loudly.
You could always smell cinnamon rolls, fresh bread, cookies, pies and homemade cooking of all kinds coming from her kitchen.  Three square meals were served each and every day on the farm except of course during the World Series when it was fend for yourself unless you wanted to eat popcorn.  She was always feeding the kids, grandkids and there were many fights between Bill and the cowboys over fried Okra.  The cowboy crew will greatly miss the cinnamon rolls she made for them.  Animal shaped pancakes were a specialty for the grandkids when they came to visit, including a skunk pancake for Grandpa which the kids loved. She always had at least two or more quilts going at a time, one in the frame, one in process and one at the quilters. LaDonna will be greatly missed by her family, friends and town.

LaDonna’s memories will live on with her husband Bill Pickett of the home, daughter, JoElla her husband Kevin Proctor and granddaughter Montana, son, Greg wife Amanda Pickett and grandson Colter, wife Madison Pickett and great granddaughter Cassidy, and grandsons Clancey and Emmett, daughter, Melissa husband Gary Beougher, granddaughter Heather, husband Brace Osburn and great granddaughter Amelia, granddaughter, Bridget husband Kolby Hugo.
