LaVonne M. McDaniel, 81, formerly of Topeka, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 in Wichita, Kansas.

LaVonne was born on January 3, 1933 in Alma, Nebraska to U.R. and Mable Parrish Burns. She achieved her high school education.

On July 7, 1953 she enlisted in the United States Navy. She proudly served her country. She received an Honorable discharge on October 4, 1954 and had obtained the rank of Seaman. LaVonne was awarded the National Defense Medal.

On February 20, 1956 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, James V. McDaniel. She was a waitress at various restaurants over the years, and was an active and dedicated wife and mother to their four children. James preceded her in death on March 12, 2010.
Surviving to honor her memory are her daughters, Debra Cote and husband Rodney of New Bern, North Carolina, Deena McDaniel and husband, Delbert Alt of Wichita, Kansas sons, James R. McDaniel and wife, Angie of Topeka, Kansas, Jerry McDaniel and wife, Terry of Topeka, Kansas fifteen grandchildren ten greatgrandchildren and three greatgrandchildren on the way and one great greatgrandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband James, she was also preceded in death by her parents, U.R. and Mable and by two brothers, Melvin Fletcher and Mervin Blanchard.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. The family suggests memorials can be made payable to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Wichita, Kansas these may be left with the funeral home.
