Lawrence Gene Parks age 87, of Coffeyville, KS passed away on April 12, 2016 at Windsor Place.

Lawrence was born in Cherryvale on August 19, 1928 to Samuel Lewis and Myrtle May (Curlis) Parks. He attended school in Liberty and then Field Kindley High School. After school he started working for Lawdese Roofing and Tile Company for 12 years then he went to work for Farmland where he devoted over 34 years of service. On August 6, 1949 he married Gwendolyn McGuire and to this union they were blessed with two sons. Gene was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, a member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge 102, and a volunteer of the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary for 18 years. Gene loved people and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He always kept his car in immaculate condition. Gene was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and a good friend.

Left to honor his memory is his wife Gwendolyn, sons, Roger Parks his wife Edna, and Stephen Parks, grandchildren, Ryan Parks his wife Beth, Stacy Hightower her husband Ryan, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Cleaver Parks

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 18, 2016 at 10:00am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 17, 2016 at the Chapel from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Weir Baptist Camp and may be left with the Chapel.
