LEO GEORGE WEINGART 1917-2005 Leo George Weingart, age 87, of Dearing, Kansas passed away early Wednesday morning, August 24, 2005 at the St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born September 1, 1917 two miles east of Jefferson, Kansas to William George and Mary M. Dalsing Weingart. He attended the Bates Rural School, two miles east of Jefferson. Following his fathers death in 1939, Leo helped his mother run the family farm. On June 13, 1946 he married Katherine Louise Brew in Holy Name Catholic Church at Coffeyville, Kansas. Following their marriage, they lived northwest of Dearing on a small farm. In 1951, they moved into Dearing to make their home. Mr. Weingart worked for Montgomery County as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1982 after 37 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and doing yard work. Mr. Weingart was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, where he was a long-time usher, Knights of Columbus Third Degree Council 991 and Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Joyce Kilmer Assembly 0281. Mr. Weingart is survived by his wife, Katherine, of the home in Dearing, and one sister, Dorothy Marie Bennett and her husband Orlyn of Dearing, Kansas. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Lawrence Brew of Grand Junction, Michigan and two sister-in-laws Rosemary Miller of Hammond, Indiana and Wilma Mayernik of Hammond, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a. m., Saturday, August 27. 2005, at the Holy Name Catholic Church with Fr. Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday August 26, 2005 at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Mr. Weingart will lie in state from 8:00 - 5:00 p.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Chapel. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Holy Name Catholic Church and these remembrances may be left at the funeral home.
