Leta Burgess

Leta Alberta Burgess, age 95 of Lawrence, Kansas formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas died Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Lawrence, Kansas.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may sign the online register at www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com.

The family has suggested memorials to the Salvation Army and contributions may be set to FordWulfBruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.

Leta Alberta Burgess was born November 12, 1917 in Regor, Missouri to Guy F. and Evah Hughes Davis. Leta graduated from the Westport High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1936. She also attended Kansas City Business College. Leta worked as a legal secretary for TWA while living in Kansas City.

On April 15, 1950 Leta married Albert Burgess in Kansas City, Missouri where the couple made their home until moving to Coffeyville, Kansas in 1954. Albert preceded her in death on July 15, 1981. Leta was a homemaker and worked for the CRMC ladies auxiliary for many years. Leta moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 2005.

Survivors include her daughter Alberta Rea of Lawrence, Kansas two grandchildren Michael Rea and wife Shellie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jarret Rea and wife Julie of Lawrence, Kansas four grandchildren Jackson Rea, Jake Rea, James Rea and Amelia Rea.
