Lois June Rexwinkle long time South Coffeyville, Oklahoma resident, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Grand Villa Assisted Living in Coffeyville, Kansas at the age of 95 ½.
June was born on June 5,1928, in Independence, Kansas to James Howard and Lula Mae (Damewood) Richardson. June grew up east of Coffeyville, attending Clymore Grade School and attended high school in Independence, Kansas and graduated from Independence High School.
June’s friend set her up on a blind date that didn’t fair to be a future prospect. But the second blind date with a different Rexwinkle boy was a perfect match. On April 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Virgil D. Rexwinkle in Independence, Kansas. The couple made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
June was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandma. Some of her favorite memories were the birth of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She cherished her time spent with her family. She was especially fond of family reunions, the reunions that lasted all day, where lasting relationships and memories were created.
Most will recognize June for her years of employment at Wal-Mart in the clothing department until her retirement in 2012. She also worked at Acme and Funks Manufacturing, now known as John Deere. June was a hard-working woman and she treasured living a long and productive life.
June worshiped her Lord and Savior at Coffeyville First Assembly of God Church. God gifted June with the talent of being artistic. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and painting ceramics. She liked to fish (but not with worms) and camping with her family.
June’s legacy of love will continue through her sons, Virgil E. Rexwinkle and wife, Jean, Justin B. Rexwinkle and wife, Lori, and her grandchildren, Melissa Kay Watson, KJ Rexwinkle and wife Jacqui, Blaine Rexwinkle and wife Adriana, Aaron Rexwinkle and wife Farrah, Courtney Hessig and husband Jeff, and ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Sharing in 66 years of marriage Virgil preceded June in death in June of 2013. Also previously departed was their baby girl, her parents, siblings Bruce Richardson, Betty Jo Kroll and granddaughter Stacy Ann Rexwinkle.
The family invites friends to call on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 5 to 7pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville. Funeral services celebrating the life of June will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Coffeyville First Assembly of God Church, 1504 W. 8th, in Coffeyville at 10:30am with Pastor Randy DePriest officiating.
