Margaret L. (Rupert) Hoggatt-Whittenburg at the age of 79 entered her eternal resting place on December 27, 2019 at her home in Coffeyville, Kansas with her husband Jerry by her side.
Margie was born on August 21, 1940 in Coffeyville, to Harry and Abigale “Abby” (Witner) Rupert. As you can see Margaret was like her mother and wasn’t particularly fond of her given name and preferred to be called by her nickname “Margie”. She was one of seven children and has only one remaining brother still living. Margie attended school in Coffeyville.
Margie worked as a cook for Bones Steakhouse and Southern Supper Club for several years until her permanent fulltime position of homemaker. She took caring for her home very seriously up until her health wouldn’t allow her too. She enjoyed drawing but was forced to give that up when her eyesight began to fail, listening to music was comforting to her. She also had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, admiring the countryside and was intrigued by the spender and beauty of horses. Those that knew her best understood that she could and often would change her mind at a moment’s notice and that’s just how it was.
She was a dedicated mother to her children, Dale and Bill “Willie” Hoggatt and a devoted wife to her husband, Jerry Whittenburg Jr. of 36 years.
Those left to honor her life and morn her loss is husband, Jerry Whittenburg Jr.; sons, Dale Hoggatt and his wife Jenny, Bill Hoggatt; grandson, Roy Dale Hoggatt Jr.; and great grandson, Christopher. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
