Marilee Unsell

Marilee Herring Unsell was happiest when she had a project underway. Her projects could include keeping our Dad on task and away from KU sports to baking pies for the church auction. She believed strongly in the idle hands were the devil's workshop. Known for her flower arrangements, holiday decorations, and pie baking and church activities. Marilee was always busy. She was active in her children's PTAs, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Bible school and numerous Methodist activities.

As an empty nester she joined the WSCS, the hospital auxiliary as a Pink Lady working the canteen, was a member of the Quarterback Club, the Keystone Class at the Coffeyville United Methodist Church and worked as a receptionist for Dr. Durkin.

Marilee was born on December 1, 1922 in Wayside, Kansas to John and Grace Herring. She graduated high school in Chanute, Kansas while living with her sister, LaDonna Miller and family. Garold Unsell courted, teased, loved and talked her into marrying him on August 4, 1940. Nisha was born, November 19, 1941. Rick made his debut in April 21, 1948. Mom went to heaven to meet her God and reunite with Dad who preceded her in death in 2005, on June 7, 2018 in Coffeyville, Kansas at Windsor Place. She was 95 years old and had made us all and God proud.

She is talked about and remembered and celebrated by her daughter, Nisha and husband Tony Hoffman and their children, Nicki England, Ryan and Brook Friend; her son, Rick and his wife, Rebecca and their children, Traci Phillips and Tyler; her niece, Sandra O'Flanagan. She had twelve great grandchildren that she loved dearly.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel and inurnment will take place at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, a memorial service will take place at a later date. To leave a message of condolence for the family visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
