Marvin R. Carney, 86, of Edna, Kansas passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Marvin was born on September 3, 1928 in Edna, Kansas on the family farm to Ira and Mildred (Triebel) Carney. He attended school in Edna, Kansas where he received his high school education. Marvin served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He completed Petroleum School in Honolulu, Hawaii during that time and was stationed in Yokohama, Japan until his honorable discharge in 1953. He also served in the Army Reserves for a number of years.
On June 30, 1953 he married the love of his life, Jo Ann Cook in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Edna, Kansas and would be celebrating 62 wonderful years at the end of this month.

Marvin was a farmer and a rancher. He loved taking care of his cattle and land. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Edna, Kansas and a member of the V.F.W. Post 1022 and the American Legion Post #20. He enjoyed gardening, traveling with Jo Ann and the Heritage Club and going on cruise ships with Jo Ann. Most recently, he enjoyed the morning "meetings" with the local guys at the Edna Co-op and the time he spent with his family and friends.
Surviving to honor his memory are his loving wife, Jo Ann of the home; brother-in-law, J.R. Cook of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eldon Carney and sister, Marilyn Carney Baker.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Edna, Kansas. Pastor Lane Roberts will officiate. Interment will follow at the North Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Family will greet friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
