Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Holeman passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 19th, 2017 at the age of 77. Family and friends will remember her for her acts of kindness, unconditional love, and her determination to always do her best and not to ever give up.
Beth is predeceased by her parents Clem and Mary Vowell and brother John "Butch" Vowell.
Beth was born in Eureka, California on July 27, 1939.
She was a lifelong resident of Coffeyville and attended grade school at Holy Name and Field Kindley High Schools.
Beth married Robert Alwood on August 17, 1957. They had four children; Kathy, Stephanie, Chip, and Christie. They later divorced. On June 12, 1983 she married Rex Holeman.
Beth worked as a receptionist/bookkeeper for Dr. Warren Thomas and The Prescription Shop. She enjoyed visiting family, crocheting, embroidery, time spent at the lake, playing bridge, occasional trips to the casino, and socializing with friends. Most of all she treasured her time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
For years she volunteered at the American Red Cross helping with blood drives, and driving a diesel truck to disasters to serve meals and provide emergency assistance. She belonged to Alpha Omega Sorority and was a member of the Class of 1957 High School Reunion Committee. She was an avid fan of the University of Kansas Men's Basketball team.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rex of thirty-three years. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy (Mark) Boeckman, Stephanie (Joe) Rains, Chip (Raye) Alwood, Christie (Andy) Schicke, Chris Holeman, and Dana (Greg) Wente; grandchildren Matthew (Marysia) Boeckman, Kate Boeckman, Justin (Tracy) Boeckman, Nick Rains, Emily Rains, Jennifer (Jake) Butt, Megan (Luke) Aafedt, Alec Gaut, Heather (Cory) Miller, Haley (Tyler Pike) Gaut, Erin Holeman, Austin Holeman, and Madison Wente; great-grandchildren Bennett Boeckman, Taylor Butt, Emme Butt, Jackson Butt, Parker Aafedt, and Hestin Pike.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, KS. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may sign the register at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel beginning March 23, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Beth, be made payable to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S.
