Melissa Ilene Carrell, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2026, at her home in Sedan, Kansas.

Melissa was born to Fred Harris and Carla (Derringer) Fisher on April 16, 1968, in Salinas, California. At the age of five she and her family moved to Coffeyville where she attended school and completed her education at Field Kindley Memorial High School.

After high school Melissa completed Certified Nurses Aide training and began working in long term care facilities. She will be remembered most for the loving care she provided at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.

Melissa was exceptionally fond of Dachshunds; she has loved and raised several over the years.

Melissa was preceded in death by her infant daughter Kali Harris, her father Fred Harris.

She is survived by her mother Carla Fisher, sister Megan and her husband Matt Pierce, her aunt Loretta Romines, special friends Pete, Sandy Davis and Sue J., two nieces and two great nieces.

Following Melissa’s wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. The family will hold a private memorial service.
