Michael Dennis Mongan, age 53 of Coffeyville KS passed away on May 29, 2016 at home. He fought a long hard battle with cancer.
Michael was born on August 28, 1962 in Sandwich, Illinois to Dennis Eugene and Rita (Nicklesen) Mongan. The family made their home in Princeton, Illinois where he grew up and attended school. In 1992 he met his wife Karla Mongan and made their life together in Coffeyville Kansas. The couple were blessed with 2 sons and 1 daughter. Michael was employed by Medicalodges Inc. at the time where he remodeled and built nursing homes and assisted living facilities. He then went on to start and operate his own construction company (General Construction Company) and Payday Plus Inc. He was very active in the community by volunteering with the local Red Cross, Planning and Zoning Commission, Blue Ribbon Committee, Bike Rallies, Toy for Tots and several other committees and organizations. Michael was all about family and family gatherings, going on bike rides and trips with his wife on his Harley, traveling with his wife in disasters and helping communities rebuild. He was a very generous supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend. Above all he was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Left to honor his memory is his wife Karla Mongan of the home, his son Jason Holmes and family of Nevada, Missouri, Christopher Mongan and family of Spring Valley, Illinois, and his daughter Nichole Hagebusch and family of Wann, Oklahoma, 12 grandchildren, Darrin Bentley a very special nephew of Coffeyville, Kansas, his sister Brenda Mongan - Chuck Bentley and family of Coffeyville Kansas, his mother Rita Mongan and George Watson of Princeton Illinois, his Brother Marc Mongan and family of Princeton, Illinois, numerous brother-in-law's, sister-in-law's, nieces, nephews, Aunts and Uncles, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be held at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:00 am. Pastor Doug Mund of Grace Fellowship with be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from noon until 8 pm with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 pm. The family has requested memorial contributions be made payable to the Michael Mongan Memorial, an account has been set up at the Community State Bank or may be left with the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
