Patricia Pat Carnes, 81, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at her home.

Pat was born on June 4, 1932 in Moore County, Texas to Milton and Bessie Sicklebower Van Sickle. The family moved to Coffeyville in 1940. Pat earned her high school education at Field Kindley Memorial High School. She then attended Coffeyville Community College. From 19521954 she served her country proudly in the United States Navy. During that time she was stationed at Treasure Island during the Korean War. Pat lived in San Francisco, Wichita and Tulsa before returning to Coffeyville.

In 1954 she was united in marriage to Julius Nickels in San Francisco, California the couple later divorced. On November 22, 1963 she was united in marriage to Gene Carnes, the couple made their home in the rural Coffeyville area near Tyro. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1994.

Pat worked for Page Milk Company, SEK VoTech as a Secretary, Tyro Campus and retired from Coffeyville Regional Medical Center as a switchboard operator. She was a past member of the Saddle Club, leader of the Fawn Creek 4H Club, CRMC Ladies Auxiliary and Advisor of the CCC Rodeo Board.

Survivors include her son, Mike Carnes and wife, Brenda of rural Coffeyville, Kansas daughter, Pamela Reeves and husband, Rob of rural Wann, Oklahoma grandchildren, Shana Davis, Sharla Howard, Shara Hill, Robbi Reeves, CodyAllan Campbell, Logan Carnes, Riley Carnes seven greatgrandchildren and a sister, Vera Casto of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to her husband Gene, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Bessie.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel. Family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made payable to the Coffeyville Friends of Animals these may be left with the funeral home.
