Rhonda Diane Miller

Rhonda Diane Miller was born May 18th, 1958, in Neodesha KS to Robert and Evelyn Ward. She peacefully passed away on September 19th, 2025, in Tulsa OK. Growing up as a child and teen, she had a love for outdoors and animals. She had many memories of riding her horses with her grandpa Ward and going on trail rides across Oklahoma. She met the love of her life Robert Lee Miller in grade school. It was true love when she invited him to her birthday party, and he gave her a pet fish which he blames her for killing. Rhonda argues it was already almost dead. Robert and her dated through high school and graduated together in May of 1976. The soulmates tied the knot shortly after on August 21st 1976. They made their first home in Neodesha, where they had their first child Stephanie in March of 1979 and their second child Ryan in February of 1981. They later moved to their home forever in rural Independence, KS where she loved being a stay-at-home mom to Ryan and Steph. After her children were both in grade school, Rhonda worked at different medical offices around Coffeyville, including SEK Eyecare for almost 14 years. During that time, she obtained her associates degree from CCC in 2007. Her father’s passing in 2010, due to a lung disease, ignited Rhonda’s passion to help others. She received her Respiratory Therapy degree in 2013 from Labette County Community College. Rhonda went on to work at CRMC for a few years and later retired from Jane Phillips in 2021.

During her retirement, Rhonda’s love for animals started her new hobby of breeding Brussels Griffon dogs. Her passion for the “griffy” breed began when she adopted her sweet Sophie in 2007 and blossomed when she adopted Roxy and Raven in later years. Rhonda cared for each puppy that was born like her children and lovingly prepared each one for their new family. She kept in touch with many of the families and loved receiving pictures of the growing pups.

Rhonda most cherished spending time with her family and spent many years going on countless vacations and camping trips. In their travels, Bob and Rhonda made two trips to Brazil to visit Bernie Duarte, a foreign exchange student that lived with them when Ryan was in high school. Rhonda enjoyed countless trips going to ride ATV’S in Colorado and Oklahoma sand dunes, as well as trips to Yellowstone and numerous other national parks.

She always made a point to make sure family came first. Rhonda loved spending time with her 3 grandchildren on countless ice cream runs, various school events, baking cookies, trips to the park, bowling, and even simple runs to the store. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

Rhonda is survived by her soulmate Robert Miller, two children Stephanie (Aaron) Lane of rural Independence, and Ryan (Lisa) Miller of Coffeyville, grandchildren Aaden Lane, Ethan Lane, and Maci Miller. Her mother Evelyn Ward of rural Coffeyville and sister Linda Plisek of rural Coffeyville, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her father Robert Ward, her father and mother in-law Richard and Winnie Jo Miller, her two grandchildren Lane Miller and Charlotte Lane, and her sister Brenda Williams and infant brother Ronald Ward, along with numerous other family members.
