Roberta Jean Ellison, 88, of Dearing, Kansas passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Roberta was born on December 9, 1925 in rural Tyro, Kansas to Harley and Effie Hugaboon Morrison. She grew up in the Tyro and Wayside, Kansas area where she received her high school education graduating in 1944. On February 27, 1957 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leslie Ellison in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The couple made their home in Dearing, Kansas where Les opened up an Auto Shop and Roberta ran the books. She also worked for Foodtown on east eighth in Coffeyville for several years and for Page Milk handing out samples.
Roberta enjoyed traveling, camping, shopping, and was a good seamstress. She attended Dearing Christian Church and in earlier years she was part of a local bowling league where she made several lifelong friends. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her dogs.
Surviving to honor her memory are numerous nieces, nephews, greatnieces, greatnephews, close friends and extended family that loved her very much. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Effie loving husband, Les who passed away on September 12, 1991 twin brother, Robert Dean Morrison and her sister, Lucile M. James.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Interment will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the funeral home from 10am5pm to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Dearing Christian Church or the Tyro Christian Church these may be left with the funeral home.
