Ronald D. White

Ronald Dean White's life ended in peace on July 8, 2024. He is survived by his "Louise", Crystal White, son Randall Harris and daughter-in-law Heidi (Kuhlman) Harris, sister Linda (White) McFall, grandchildren Naomi Opal Fishback and Oliver Harris, and Ms. Sadie Sue. In his final hours, he read messages from dear friends, including Rick Rutledge, his chosen friend and brother of 60 years. He wrote letters to Rick, golfing buddy Mark Webber, and his work buddy Jim Ammerman. He drank his favorite drinks, ate ice cream, listened to music, and said "I love you." one last time before resting.

Ronnie was born April 12, 1955, to Francis and Alice White of Coffeyville Kansas. He grew up in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School in May of 1973. He worked in carpentry with his father and built houses across Coffeyville with the family business. During his life he also worked with Western Publishing, USD 445, Cessna, and finally retired from John Deere in 2020. He entered basic training with the Marine Corps in 1973 but was honorably discharged for medical reasons.

When not working, Ron enjoyed working in his yard, debating politics with his friends, comic books, and the music of Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Big Smith. Ronnie was an avid poet and prodigious writer, leaving behind reams of written words and collected thoughts. He was active in the Bob Dylan fan club, a sponsor of the Dylan Museum in Tulsa, and founder of "Small Talk at the Wall" - the largest gathering of Bob Dylan fans on the internet. He traveled for leisure with his friends, attended concerts, and was always on the lookout for a good deal on a rare comic.

A memorial service is planned to Celebrate Ronnie’s life with his family and friends on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 1:30pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville. Ronnie will be laid to rest near his parents in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following services.
