Ruby Lee McCartney age 83, of Edna, KS was welcomed in the loving arms of Jesus on November 24, 2015 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
Ruby was born on January 31, 1932 in Edna, KS to J.R. Lee and Florence (Hayes) Martin. Ruby was born and raised in Edna. She was a charter member of the Edna Assembly of God Church where she was saved at the age of 7 also preformed her first solo in the church choir at the age of 7. Ruby attended and graduated in 1950 from the Edna High School. After High School she found employment with Southwestern Bell, she devotedly served as an operator for over 36 years retiring in 1986. On February 26, 1955 she was united in marriage to John McCartney in Nowata, Oklahoma. To this union the couple was blessed with two sons. Ruby was a member of Royal Neighbors of America, Telephone Pioneers, AARP, and a lifetime member of the Edna Assembly of God Church. Ruby was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Left to honor her memory are her sons John McCartney and wife Lorey, Pat McCartney, brother Robert Martin and wife Rema, grandchildren Michelle Wharton, Brandy McCartney, and Bryan McCartney, great-grandchildren Krysten, Fran, Korin, and Kaylee. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, and a great-grandson Zachery.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday December 1, 2015 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with pastors Jack Blackwell and Mark Wettengel officiating. Interment will follow at North Edna Cemetery. Friends may sign the register on Monday November 30, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving guests from 6pm to 8pm.
