Ruth Alene Cease

Ruth Alene Cease passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, just shy of celebrating her 92nd birthday at her home with her daughter-in-love and longtime caretaker by her side.

Ruth was born on March 27, 1932, in Coffeyville, Kansas to George and Pauline (Beck) Holmes.  She grew up in a loving home with her parents and seven siblings.  She and her siblings attended Coffeyville schools together; Ruth graduated high school at Field Kindley Memorial.

In the spring of 1950 on May 13th Ruth married her husband Harold Cease.  It was through a mutual friend that Ruth met Harold when he was in college.  Harold asked Ruth to a football game one night and as they say, the rest is history, the couple was united in marriage and had three children.  Harold preceded Ruth in death on September 26, 2019, sharing 69 years of marriage.

Ruth was a loving wife, nurturing mother, wonderful homemaker, selfless caretaker, and wonderful friend.   She was an excellent cook, talented seamstress making clothes for family and was especially talented in creating beautiful square-dancing dresses and the mister’s matching tie.  She and Harold were quite accomplished square dancers and enjoyed attending dances together, eventually their daughter Patricia joined them.  Ruth also enjoyed playing games with her family, especially Yahtzee, and watching westerns and Matt Dillon was her favorite actor.  Of recent years she acquired a taste for a ranch dip, an afternoon Mountain Dew, a snack of Chester Cheese Puff Corn and Hershey Kisses.

Ruth has been a long-time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she actively worshiped and served long side her husband.  She sang in the choir and served in several other capacities until she, Harold and Patricia’s health began to fail, and they were unable to attend regularly.

Ruth experienced many losses and trying years but her, faith in Jesus carrying her through and knowing that her Heavenly Father would never abandon her and comforted her.  She cared for sick children, the loss of her parents, her husband and all three children but her faith never wavered knowing that God had a plan, and it was His will not hers.

Ruth leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Donna Cease who lovingly cared for her until the end along with good friend and caregiver Don Froebe; support caregivers, Kim Burnett and Anitris Fullard.  Her brother Derrald Holmes, son-in-law Ahmad Samadani, grandchildren whom she adored Caveh Samadani and his wife Michelle, Setare Perryman and her husband Joey, Amir Samadani and his wife Whitney, great-grandchildren: Noah, Samuel, Grayson, Abigail, and Gabriel Samadani, Shayla, Layla, Elijah, Isaiah, and Jeremiah Perryman, Randi, Lane, and Landon Samadani.

She now rests with her parents, her husband, Harold Cease, son Donald Glenn Cease, daughters Peggy Lee Samadami and Patricia Cease, infant grandchild, siblings Roland, Walter, Richard, Gerald Holmes, Dorothy Bartholomew, and Irene Ward.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning March 23, 2024, from 9 until 10am.  Funeral services will begin at 10am with Pastor Jessica Husted officiating.  Ruth will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, next to her husband, infant grandchild, daughter Patricia Cease and son Donald Cease.  The family request memorial contributions to be made payable to Trinity United Methodist Church and may be left in care of the chapel.  To leave an online condolence, share a memory, or view services, visit Ruth’s obituary page at www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
