Ruth Lorene Elliott age 97 of Coffeyville passed away on July 17, 2017 at Windsor Place.

Ruth was born on February 29, 1920 in Wann, Oklahoma to Leroy and Gertrude (Poe) Crittenden. She attended and graduated from Wann High School. She then continued her education at Coffeyville Junior College, Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK and later earned a Master's in Education from Pittsburg State University. She began her elementary teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse at Antioch, located near Wann. She then taught in Wann, OK for 10 years before moving to Whittier Elementary School in Coffeyville and retiring from Edgewood Elementary School after 40 years in education. Ruth was united in marriage to Ralph "George" Elliott on December 25, 1942 in Ft Sill, Oklahoma. To this union the couple was blessed with two daughters. Ruth's passions in life were her family and her profession. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the NEA, Keystone Class, the Salvation Army Auxiliary, and the CRMC Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Connie Cox and Sue Staudt (Joe); two granddaughters, Kimberly Gonzalez (Mateo) of Frisco, TX and Holly Staudt of Pittsburg, KS; a great-granddaughter Audrey Gonzalez; and a nephew, Nolen Smith of Bartlesville, OK.

Ruth now rests with her parents, her beloved husband George, her brother Forrest Crittenden, and her sister Leola Smith.

Friends are invited to sign the register on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Private family services will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made payable to Coffeyville First United Methodist Church or to Coffeyville Friends of Animals, and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
