Ruth D. Gilstrap, age 80 of Oswego, Kansas passed away on January 10, 2017 at Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Ruth was born to Ether F and Gladys (Hollis) Smith in rural Oswego, Kansas on December 26, 1936. Ruth attended country schools in Labette County, Kansas, later moving to Garnett, Kansas where she graduated high school in 1954.

Ruth worked in the Greenwood County Courthouse in Eureka, Kansas for four years, before moving to Coffeyville, Kansas in 1959 and worked at the 1st National Bank and Condon National Bank until 1976. Ruth met the love of her life in Coffeyville, Jack Gilstrap. She and Jack married on June 25, 1965, the couple just celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary. Ruth and Jack lived in several places during their life together returning to Coffeyville in 2001 and finally in Oswego, Kansas. She and Jack shared a love of making crafts together especially after they retired, selling them at local craft shows.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Jack; sister Naomi Elliott of Copan, Oklahoma; brothers, James Smith and his wife Coral of Queen Creek, Arizona, Carl Smith and his wife Vida of Moses Lake, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Pastor Bill Wright will be officiating. To leave the family a special message online visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
